The other poker
Hold’em pays the posters. Stud and razz paid for two of the bracelets.

If you only play no-limit, you are visiting half the room.
In 2015 I won the $1,500 razz and, two weeks later, the $10,000 seven-card stud hi-lo championship. Same series, two forms of the game most people skip. That is not a branding choice. It is where I have an edge that does not expire when the solver blog moves on.
Stud asks you to remember what died, who is capped, and whether the board is telling the truth. Razz asks you to be patient in a way hold’em never quite requires. I like both. I liked them before they were fashionable, and I like them now that they are not.
The championship stud field that year had names. The bracelet is the part that photographs. The work was the week of starting hands that did not photograph at all.
If you write to me about a mixed game in this city, I will read the note. If you write to me about a course, I will not.
